On June 19-20th, the 4IRE team along with our partners Supercolony participated in Polkadot Ecosystem Hackathon sponsored by Parity Technologies. The Hackathon addressed the issues in the Polkadot ecosystem – a technology aimed to connect private and consortium chains and let independent blockchains interact securely via the Polkadot relay chain.
Polkadot Ecosystem Hackathon gathered professionals from 4IRE and Supercolony passionate about blockchain development. Supercolony is an ambitious IT company focusing on the cryptocurrency Polkadot that strives to improve the Polkadot ecosystem.
Both 4IRE and Supercolony teams were ready to brainstorm on creating first open-source contracts library for ink! and facilitate the process of smart contracts development. The event was a unique opportunity for the participants to gain experience, grow professionally, and develop a solution that could improve the whole ecosystem and provided benefits to all involved.
The tech teams spent 30 hours and managed to work on several solutions for Polkadot such as:
- a set of standards for commonly used smart contracts in ink! called OpenBrush (as OpenZeppelin for Ethereum) aimed to make it easier for developers to enter the ecosystem;
- a project addressing Polkadot privacy;
- a Blot.js project that facilitates the use of libraries when working with smart contracts based on polkadot.js.
Meanwhile, a non-technical team was working on building a marketing strategy for Polkadot. They managed to create a one-of-a-kind book containing the entire history of Polkadot and gathering all the information about the system for newbies.
The prize pool was $5,000, but each team did their best and made an invaluable contribution to the work of the ecosystem and came up with stunning ideas, the prize was shared between three teams.
We are grateful to our partners for our mutual efforts to make Polkadot ecosystem Hackathon happen and the opportunity to collaborate and share ideas!
